CLI College is looking for a dynamic Student Recruitment Officer who would introduce CLI College Calgary Campus to new prospects and recruit new students.
Job description
The Student Recruitment Officer is responsible for promoting and selling the programs offered at CLI College Hamilton to potential students, responding to inquiries from potential students on various programs, and identifying the appropriate programs to meet these goals. The primary function of this position is to maximize each opportunity to market programs to meet or exceed the enrollment targets for the College.
You will establish and administer programs for targeting, recruitment, and retention of students in our career-focused diploma & certificate programs.
Salary Scale:
$41,600.00 – $50,000.00 per annum (40 hours per week and 52 weeks per annum) + Bonus
Job Type: 3-month Contract leading to Full-Time
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide career and academic counselling, planning, and advising to potential students
- Develop sales targets and operating goals for each program
- Meeting monthly or annual enrolment target
- Participate in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials
- Visit high schools and colleges, speak to groups and individual students, and meets with school counsellors to promote outreach activities
- Attend job fairs, make visits to Newcomer centres, Employment agencies, etc to recruit students (subject to current conditions of the pandemic and safety)
- Liaise with third-party organizations and recruiting agencies to increase the number of new student leads
- Coordinate community workshops to increase College’s brand awareness to arrange visits from prospective students
- Plan & participate in campus events such as Open Houses and Information Sessions
- Create and distribute resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs
- Converting prospective students into enrolments
- Work on lead generation and follow-up on existing leads provided by the school in a team or independently
Qualification & Competencies
- Post-secondary degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in a fast-paced, events coordination/support role, preferably in a post-secondary or educational setting.
- Knowledge of the post-secondary admissions and recruitment cycle.
- Knowledge of the academic programs and disciplines taught at CLI College
- Experience working in the admissions or student recruitment role at a college or school in Canada is strongly preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Zoom Meetings and Webinars.
- Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact positively with prospective students, high schools, guidance counselors, and the general public in a variety of settings, including public presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and use good judgment in all decisions.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues
- Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs
- Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field.
- Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials.
- Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, and independent or group projects.
- Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students.
- Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams, and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly.
- Provide feedback on student performance.
- Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multicultural environment.
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude.
- Maintain attendance records accurately.
- Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future careers.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation.
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information.
- Stay current in the subject matter through professional development.
- Display an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems
- Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
Qualifications
- Must have a diploma or degree in the related discipline.
- Must present with a minimum of three (3) years of current, relevant work experience.
